Transformation & Operational Excellence

Improving performance through better economics, stronger operations and disciplined execution.

Performance challenges rarely sit within a single function. Margin pressure can originate in pricing, portfolio mix, procurement, manufacturing or cost-to-serve, while growth can expose weaknesses in supply, processes, management routines and organisational capacity.

La Colomba UK works with management teams to identify the drivers of performance, quantify the value at stake and implement the changes required to capture it.

Our work combines analytical rigour with hands-on implementation, providing management with additional senior capacity and clear accountability around the priorities that matter most.

What this means for our clients

A fact base for better decisions

We establish a clear view of the economics and operating performance of the business, identifying where value is being created, where it is being lost and which constraints are limiting performance.

The analysis can cover commercial economics, sourcing, manufacturing, logistics, customer profitability, organisational effectiveness and operating processes.

Focus on the value at stake

We prioritise initiatives according to their potential financial impact, feasibility, speed and ability to be implemented by the organisation.

This creates a focused improvement agenda rather than a broad transformation programme with competing priorities.

Execution alongside management

We support the implementation of agreed initiatives directly, working with the relevant commercial, procurement, supply chain, manufacturing, finance and other functional teams.

Depending on the mandate, this can include programme management, supplier engagement, negotiations, process redesign, KPI implementation and cross-functional coordination.

Senior capability where it creates the greatest return

Businesses do not always need a permanent transformation director, procurement leader or commercial operations function.

We can provide experienced leadership around a defined performance agenda, giving management additional capacity and accountability without creating unnecessary permanent infrastructure.

How we help

  • Commercial performance - We assess pricing, customer and channel economics, portfolio profitability and cost-to-serve to identify opportunities to improve revenue quality and margin. Where opportunities are identified, we support management in translating the analysis into commercial actions.

  • Procurement and supply - We assess sourcing, supplier structures, manufacturing, logistics and supply requirements to improve cost competitiveness, resilience and flexibility. Where appropriate, we support supplier selection, negotiations and the development of new manufacturing or sourcing arrangements.

  • Operating model - We help management address the organisational and process issues that constrain performance, including responsibilities, decision rights, cross-functional ways of working, KPIs and management routines.

  • Transformation implementation - We translate priorities into an implementation programme with defined initiatives, owners, milestones and performance measures. We can remain directly involved throughout implementation to maintain momentum, resolve issues and track delivery against the agreed objectives.

From diagnosis to realised value

An extension of the management team

Transformation programmes often require coordination across functions that do not naturally operate as a single workstream.

La Colomba UK can provide a senior point of accountability across the agreed programme, bringing together the relevant stakeholders and maintaining focus on delivery.

The CEO and leadership team remain responsible for the decisions that require their authority. The programme has clear ownership for execution, with progress tracked against defined objectives and KPIs.

This reduces management complexity and creates additional capacity around the areas where leadership attention is most valuable.

A flexible operating model

The engagement can be structured around a defined transformation programme, a specific operational challenge or an ongoing performance mandate.

The level of support can increase or reduce as the programme moves from diagnosis into implementation and stabilisation.

This provides access to senior expertise without requiring the business to commit prematurely to a permanent organisational structure.
